Rent a traditional private house

in the historic townscape in Obama

Obama Machiya Stay

The historic townscape of Obama has its roots in Kyoto’s culture.
We have renovated an old machiya townhouse into an inn for rent.
Here you can experience the life and culture of Obama.

The inn is located in the center of Obama City, where the historic townscape remains. It has been newly designed in a modern Japanese style while retaining the traditional townhouse atmosphere, and is equipped with clean and convenient facilities and appliances. You can spend time in the privacy of your own home with your family, or a group of friends, while experiencing the atmosphere of the old days.

Facing Wakasa Bay, Obama is the starting point of the "Saba Kaido," an ancient highway used for transporting seafood to Kyoto.
The townscape of Obama, with its traditional townhouses and storehouses, still retains the bustling atmosphere of the old days. The town's rich natural environment, cuisine, festivals, and other aspects of culture are still alive today.
